Amanda Lanzillo

Hello! I am a historian, and I research and write about labor, technology, artisanship, and religion in Muslim communities in nineteenth- and early twentieth-century South Asia.

My first monograph, Pious Labor: Islam, artisanship, and technology in colonial India is now available for preorder from University of California Press ahead of its release in  January 2024. It will also be available open access.

As of January 2023, I am a Lecturer in South Asian History at Brunel University London.

From 2020-2023, I was a  Cotsen Postdoctoral Fellow with the Princeton University Society of Fellows in the Liberal Arts.

I earned a PhD in history from Indiana University in April 2020.
